Pictures arrive in every size, format and orientation, and the chores around them are mechanical rather than artistic. A product photo exceeds a marketplace limit, a screenshot must become a favicon-friendly PNG, a portrait needs cropping to a square grid, or a scan should shrink before it travels by email. This section handles that plumbing. Resize to exact pixel bounds, crop freely, convert between JPG, PNG and WebP, compress toward a weight target, rotate or mirror, sample an exact colour, and translate an image into Base64 text and back. Ratio maths and social presets remove guesswork when a platform hides its preferred dimensions. Designers, sellers, bloggers and support teams use these pages to prepare assets without installing software. Because decoding, editing and re-encoding all happen locally, the photographs you open are never transmitted while you work. Keep your original until the result looks right.

Formats and limits are described per tool; each tool page states the ones that tool actually accepts and enforces.

Privacy: Images are decoded, edited and re-encoded on your own device. The files you choose are never uploaded, copied to a server or retained afterwards, and nothing is stored once the tab closes.

Preparing pictures for the place they will live

The common picture chore is making a file fit a destination. Begin by scale the image to the pixel bounds you need so the layout stops shifting, then crop to the exact frame the design expects rather than letting a platform guess. Format comes next: convert the photo to WebP for a smaller download when speed matters, or keep PNG where transparency must survive. Finish by compressing the picture until it clears the upload limit and compare the reported sizes before publishing.

Repeated downscaling is the usual self-inflicted damage: shrinking, saving, reopening and shrinking again throws away detail each round. Converting a photograph to PNG, or a logo to JPEG, is another frequent mismatch that either bloats the file or softens sharp edges. People also forget that cropping changes composition, not just dimensions, and that a weak source cannot be rescued by re-encoding. Work from the original file every time and keep it until the result looks right.

Let the goal pick the tool. Dimension changes want the resizer, framing wants the cropper, format shopping wants a converter, weight reduction wants a compressor, and batch presets want the social resizer. Orientation and colour sampling each have their own page, so use them rather than rotating by hand in an editor.

Think about the final home before touching a single pixel. A shopfront gallery expects square thumbnails, a blog header wants a broad banner, and a printer needs sufficient pixels per inch to avoid blur. Screenshots behave nothing like photographs: flat colour, diagrams and text compress neatly in PNG, while gradients, skin tones and grain belong in JPEG or WebP. Judge weight alongside width, since two files of identical dimensions can differ by megabytes. Check that small print remains legible after scaling, resist upscaling a tiny source, and accept that transparency vanishes once you export as JPEG.

When this category is NOT the answer

If the pictures must become a finished document, an editor alone will not paginate them. Assemble the images into a PDF when the deliverable is a file someone pages through rather than a picture on a screen.

Jobs you can do with Image tools

Start here: a practical Image workflow

  1. Resize or crop the picture to the dimensions you need with Image Resizer or Image Cropper.
  2. Convert the format using JPG to PNG, PNG to JPG or WebP Converter.
  3. Shrink the file for delivery with Compress JPG, Compress PNG or Compress WebP and download it.

Frequently asked questions about Image tools

Are my pictures uploaded to a server?

No. Images are decoded and re-encoded inside your browser; the original and any result remain on your own device.

Which format should I choose?

Use JPG for photographs, PNG when transparency or crisp edges matter, and WebP for a smaller file that modern browsers read.

Does converting improve image quality?

Never. Conversion only changes the format or dimensions; it cannot add detail, and lossy formats always remove some.

Can I process several images at once?

Social Image Resizer outputs up to twelve preset sizes, and Images to PDF combines many pictures into one ordered document.

  • PDF

Choose PDF tools when the finished asset must become a document or when you need to join pictures into one file with page numbering.

  • File

Use File tools when several processed images should be bundled into a single ZIP archive for delivery.
