EXIF orientation is corrected before mirroring, so a phone photo flips the way it looks on screen. A flip keeps every pixel, only their order changes.
Quality applies only to JPG and WebP output; the current format is lossless.

Choose an image, pick a mirror direction, then flip it locally.
Flip Image mirrors a PNG, JPEG, or WebP across the horizontal axis, the vertical axis, or both at once, after correcting the EXIF orientation so the result matches what you saw on screen. The flip itself is a lossless rearrangement of pixels; only an explicit JPG or WebP export re-encodes them. Every run reports the exact byte change between the file you dropped and the file you download. The canvas keeps the source dimensions, so mirroring never resamples or adds resolution; only a compressed export can lose quality.
How to use Flip Image
- Drop a PNG, JPEG, or WebP up to 20 MB.
- Choose Horizontal, Vertical, or Both axes, then pick the output format.
- Press Flip image, check the byte summary, then download or clear the result.
What you get
- A mirrored PNG, JPEG or WebP, flipped left-to-right, top-to-bottom or across both axes.
- The output dimensions and format, with both-axis mirroring described as the 180-degree rotation it equals.
- Exact before and after byte counts, with transparency kept for PNG and WebP and flattened to white for JPEG.
When to use Flip Image
- Mirror a selfie or screenshot so text and faces read the right way round.
- Flip a scanned back page left-to-right so it lines up with the front page.
- Reverse a logo or icon horizontally and keep it as a transparent PNG.
Frequently asked questions about Flip Image
Does flipping reduce image quality?
No. A flip just reorders existing pixels, so a PNG output is pixel-identical to the source, only mirrored. Choosing JPG or WebP does re-encode the file, which is where any quality loss comes from.
What is the difference between flipping and rotating?
Flipping mirrors the picture, like holding it up to a mirror, so left and right swap places. Rotating turns it, so the top edge moves to a side. Rotate Image covers the turning case.
Why is my mirrored photo upside down?
It is not: phone cameras store rotation in an EXIF tag, and this tool applies that tag before mirroring. If the result still looks wrong, the file was probably exported by an app that already baked the rotation in oddly.
Can I flip an image back to its original?
Yes, as long as you flipped the same axis and saved losslessly. Flipping the same axis twice returns the original pixels; re-encoding through JPG or WebP may not restore exact bytes.
