PNG to JPG converts a PNG into a JPEG at the quality you choose, trading detail for bytes. The trade is explicit: below roughly quality seventy, fine text edges and thin lines visibly soften, and the page says so instead of presenting the slider as a free saving. Transparency is flattened onto white, because JPEG has no alpha channel - a logo with a transparent background comes back on a white rectangle, which is the right result for a photo and often the wrong one for a mark. Animated PNGs convert from their first frame only. The result reports the output dimensions, the quality used and the filename, so a batch can be compared. The quality field is validated before the canvas is drawn, so an out-of-range number is refused rather than silently clamped. It is the tool for shrinking screenshots before they go into a ticket, for meeting a platform that only accepts JPEG, and for comparing quality ninety against seventy on the same text-heavy image before choosing.

How to use PNG to JPG

  1. Drop a PNG and set the JPEG quality.
  2. Wait for the lossy conversion.
  3. Download the JPG or clear to start over.

What you get

  • A JPEG at the quality you choose, with the output dimensions, quality value and filename reported.
  • Transparency flattened onto white, stated in the result rather than discovered after download.
  • A quality check that refuses an out-of-range value before the canvas is drawn, instead of clamping it silently.

When to use PNG to JPG

  • Reduce screenshot file sizes before attaching them to tickets.
  • Convert PNG exports for platforms that prefer JPEG.
  • Compare quality 90 against 70 on the same text-heavy screenshot before choosing a size that stays readable.

Frequently asked questions about PNG to JPG

Does PNG to JPG upload my images?

No. Decoding and encoding run locally in your browser; nothing is sent, stored, or logged.

What happens to transparent areas?

They become white. JPEG cannot store transparency, so the tool composites onto a white background first.

What quality should I pick?

85 suits photos; 70–80 suits screenshots with text. Lower values shrink files but blur edges.

Why is my JPG bigger than expected?

Noisy photos and gradients compress poorly. Lower the quality or resize first with Image Resizer.
