Type plain lines above.

Text to CSV turns plain pasted lines into comma-separated rows, either by splitting each line on runs of whitespace or by cutting it into a fixed number of columns. The two modes answer different problems. Whitespace splitting suits aligned output copied from a terminal or a log, where the gaps carry the structure. Fixed columns suit something like a list of full names, where the number of columns is known but the whitespace is not consistent. Empty lines are skipped rather than emitted as blank rows, and in fixed mode a short row is padded with empty cells while a long one is trimmed, so the result stays rectangular instead of ragged. The delimiter and the safe-output guard are both under your control, which matters when a pasted value begins with a character a spreadsheet would treat as a formula. It is the tool for turning a copied chat log into rows, for structuring a pasted list before an import, and for splitting one column into several by position. Everything is processed locally and nothing is stored. The output is recomputed on every keystroke from the same values the copy and download buttons use, and the safe-output guard prefixes formula-looking cells so a spreadsheet cannot execute them. Whitespace splitting treats consecutive spaces and tabs as a single divider, so column alignment in the source does not create empty fields.

How to use Text to CSV

  1. Paste one record per line and pick a split mode.
  2. Choose delimiter and safe output.
  3. Copy, download, or clear to start over.

What you get

  • Comma-separated rows from pasted lines, split on whitespace runs or into a fixed column count.
  • Short rows padded with empty cells and long ones trimmed in fixed mode, so the grid stays rectangular.
  • Empty lines skipped rather than emitted as blank rows.

When to use Text to CSV

  • Turn a copied chat log into rows for a spreadsheet.
  • Structure pasted lists before importing them anywhere.
  • Split a pasted column of full names into first and last columns by fixed column count.

Frequently asked questions about Text to CSV

Does Text to CSV upload my data?

No. Splitting and conversion run locally in your browser; nothing is sent, stored, or logged.

What happens to empty lines?

They are skipped entirely. Only lines with content become rows.

How does fixed mode handle uneven rows?

Short rows gain empty cells up to the width; long rows are trimmed to it.

Is Arabic text preserved?

Yes. Splitting is whitespace-based and encoding-agnostic, so Arabic script passes through untouched.
