Reverse Letters turns text around character by character: the last character becomes the first, the first becomes the last, and everything in between follows. Per-line mode reverses each line independently, so a list stays in the same order while every item is mirrored; whole-text mode reverses the entire document, which also reverses the order of its lines. Reversal works on Unicode code points rather than UTF-16 units, so an emoji outside the basic plane is not cut in half. That still does not make every visible character atomic: combining accents, skin-tone modifiers and zero-width-joiner emoji sequences are separate code points, and reversing them can separate a mark from the letter it belonged to. Joined scripts such as Arabic lose their cursive connections when the characters are placed in reverse order, so the result is a string of disconnected glyphs rather than readable mirrored calligraphy. The page states these limits rather than implying a typographic mirror. It is useful for puzzles, obfuscation, testing character handling, and palindrome checks, and it runs entirely in your browser. The character count reports code points rather than UTF-16 units, which is why an emoji outside the basic plane counts as one. Reversing twice returns the original code-point sequence, which makes the operation useful as a check even when the glyphs are not meant to be read.
How to use Reverse Letters
- Paste the text and choose per-line or whole-text mode.
- Read the reversed preview and the character count.
- Copy the result or clear to start over.
What you get
- The characters in reverse order, either line by line or across the document.
- A count of Unicode code points processed and the number of lines.
- LF line endings in per-line mode, with no other normalisation applied.
When to use Reverse Letters
- Create mirrored text for a puzzle, quiz or design placeholder.
- Check how a string behaves when processed character by character.
- Reverse a list of short codes while keeping one per line.
Frequently asked questions about Reverse Letters
Does it reverse words or letters?
Letters, character by character. Word order is untouched; use Reverse Words if you want the sequence of words flipped instead.
Why does Arabic text look disconnected?
Arabic letters join according to their position in a word. Reversing the code points destroys that order, so the glyphs no longer connect and the result is not readable mirrored Arabic.
Are emoji handled safely?
Code points outside the basic plane are kept whole, but sequences joined with zero-width joiners or modified by skin tone can still split into their component code points.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Reversal runs in your browser; nothing is sent to a server or stored after the page closes.
