Mask Text (Censor) replaces the middle of every word with a mask character while keeping a chosen number of characters at the start and the end. It is the quick way to share a screenshot or a log without exposing a name, a code or an address, while still leaving enough shape to recognise the value. The rule is applied per word: hello with one kept on each side becomes h***o, and punctuation and spaces stay where they were. A word too short to keep both ends is masked completely, because keeping every character would defeat the purpose. The page is explicit that this is visual redaction, not encryption: the original text is still in your browser, and the masked string can be reversed only by guessing, not by a key. It is the tool for preparing a support screenshot, sharing a sample without real data, and demonstrating why visual masking is not a substitute for removing sensitive fields. Keeping one character at each end preserves the length and a hint of the shape, which is enough for a human to recognise a value without reading it.
