Choose a Search Console CSV that has both a query column and a page column. Nothing is uploaded.

Keyword Cannibalization Checker takes a Search Console export and answers one narrow question: which of your queries are being chased by more than one of your own pages. It works from the data you already have rather than from a crawl, because Search Console has already recorded which page earned impressions for which query — two pages holding impressions for the same query are, by definition, competing for it. The tool groups the export by query, counts each page once even where it appears on several rows, ranks the pages by their average position, and reports the impressions sitting on the pages that are not winning: that number is the size of the problem, and the position gap tells you whether the competition is close or a page is far behind and probably wasting effort. Findings are sorted by disputed impressions, so the first screen is the traffic worth acting on, and the whole report downloads as a CSV with one row per competing page. Nothing is crawled and no third-party site is fetched: the only input is a file you choose, parsed in the browser, with the columns checked before anything is analysed. The tool stops at the evidence. It tells you that two pages compete and by how much; deciding whether to merge them, redirect one or rewrite the weaker one belongs to whoever knows the content. The position gap is reported next to the disputed impressions, because a page sitting at position twenty-two almost never returns the traffic it holds, while two pages separated by half a place are a genuine tie worth settling by intent.

How to use Keyword Cannibalization Checker

  1. Export from Search Console with both dimensions — queries and pages — and choose the CSV here.
  2. Read the conflicts, largest disputed impressions first, and note the position gap on each.
  3. Download the report as CSV and decide per query whether to merge, redirect, or differentiate the pages.

When to use Keyword Cannibalization Checker

  • Check a product launch's query set before publishing, to catch two pages being optimised for the same phrase.
  • Review a quarterly export for queries where an old blog post outranks the page you actually want to rank.
  • Find the impression-heavy phrases your site competes with itself on after a migration moved or duplicated content.

Frequently asked questions about Keyword Cannibalization Checker

Why does it refuse my Search Console export?

Because cannibalisation needs two things in the same file: what people searched and which page was shown. A Queries export has no page column, and a Pages export has no query column, so the tool names the column it is missing instead of analysing half the picture.

Does it crawl my site or call Search Console?

Neither. There is no crawl, no sitemap fetch, no API call and no third-party request of any kind. The only input is the CSV you choose, and it is parsed in your browser: the file never leaves the device.

Are two pages that rank for one query always cannibalising each other?

Not necessarily. If they answer different intents — one informational, one transactional — holding two results can be legitimate. The tool reports that they compete and how much traffic sits on the lower-ranked page, which is the fact you need; the decision about whether that is intended is yours.

What counts as a conflict here?

A query with at least two pages that each recorded impressions for it in the export. Duplicate rows for the same page are counted once, pages with zero impressions are ignored, and you can raise a floor so only queries above a total impressions threshold are shown.
