Whitespace Cleaner trims and tidies text that arrived messy: leading and trailing spaces removed from each line, stray runs collapsed, blank lines dropped when you ask for that. It is the repair for text pasted out of a web page, a PDF or a chat window, where invisible characters cause visible problems - a non-breaking space that defeats a search, an ideographic space that breaks a comparison, an indented list that will not align. The page recognises Unicode whitespace rather than only the ASCII space, which is why it fixes cases a simple trim does not. Cleaning is lossy by design and the page says so: removed spacing cannot be recovered, so keep the original if the text matters. Line endings are normalised to LF in the output. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is remembered, and no reformatting beyond whitespace is attempted. Tabs are treated as whitespace too, which is why a list pasted out of a code editor can be normalised without turning its indentation into visible characters, and why the output is safe to compare against another paste. The page never rewrites words, so a cleaned paste can be diffed against the original to confirm that only spacing moved. A paste containing only whitespace returns an empty result rather than an error, since an empty document is a truthful answer to a cleaning request. Unicode spaces such as the non-breaking and ideographic variants are trimmed too, so text pasted from a word processor does not carry invisible gaps.
