Remove Duplicate Lines deletes repeated lines from a list and keeps the first occurrence in its original order, which is the behaviour you want for a mailing list, a URL export or a log extract. It compares whole lines rather than words: the same three terms in a different order count as a different line, because reordering a line usually means it says something else. A case-insensitive mode is available for lists assembled from several systems, and it uses Unicode lowercase mapping rather than assuming English. Line endings are normalised to LF in the output, which the page states plainly instead of letting a diff surprise you later. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is remembered: paste, read the count, copy the result. It is a small tool with one opinion, and that opinion - keep the first, discard the rest - is stated before you paste rather than discovered after. Blank lines are preserved as they appeared, since an empty line in a list usually marks a section boundary rather than a duplicate, and removing it silently would merge two groups the author meant to keep apart. Keeping the first occurrence means the surviving line keeps its original position, and line endings normalize to LF on the way out.
