Result
No text yet.
Paste text and a query above.
Text Highlighter finds every occurrence of a query and wraps it in a mark element, returning an HTML snippet that can be pasted into a page, a documentation file or an email. It is the small presentation step after a search: instead of explaining where a word appears, you hand over a version where it is visually marked. Matching is literal and can be case-sensitive or not, and the source text is escaped first, so a less-than sign or an ampersand is displayed rather than parsed as markup. That also means existing HTML in the input is shown as text, not rendered, which is the safe default for pasted content. The result reports the number of matches. It does not produce a styled preview, and it does not support regular expressions; those would be a different tool. It is the tool for annotating a review, marking keywords in a help article, and preparing a highlighted excerpt for a ticket. Because the output is escaped before marking, a query that contains a less-than sign is matched against the visible text rather than interpreted as markup. Overlapping or adjacent matches are handled left to right, and the cursor advances by the query length, so a match inside a match is not produced. The mark element carries no styling by itself; a page supplies the colour. Because the source is escaped, a query containing an ampersand is matched as text, not as an entity. If the query appears zero times, the escaped source is returned unchanged. Adjacent matches are marked separately, never merged. The query is matched literally, so a dot means a dot. The output can be copied into any HTML document without further escaping.

Frequently asked questions about Text Highlighter
Can I see the highlighted result on the page?
The output is HTML source, not a rendered preview; paste it into a page or an email to see the marks.
Does it support regular expressions?
No. Matching is literal text; use Find and Replace with regex for pattern work.
Why is my existing HTML shown as tags?
The source is escaped so pasted markup is displayed rather than executed, which is the safe default.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Highlighting runs in your browser; nothing is sent to a server or stored.
