Reading Time Calculator estimates how long a piece of text takes to read at a slow, an average and a fast pace, and shows the word count each estimate is built from. Three paces rather than one is the honest choice, because reading speed varies by reader and by material: a technical paragraph and a friendly newsletter are not read at the same rate, and a speaker rehearsing for a slot needs the slow figure rather than the flattering one. The arithmetic is deliberately simple and stated on the page: word count divided by a fixed pace, with results rounded up to whole seconds rather than presented as a decimal that implies precision the pace figures do not have. Layout, images and the difficulty of the prose are ignored, and the page says so. Arabic and English words count identically, which keeps a bilingual comparison fair. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and no claim is made that an estimate is a measurement. The three paces are presented together so a speaker can rehearse against the slow one and a reader can plan around the fast one, and the page keeps the word count visible so a revised draft can be compared against the estimate it replaced. A very short text still returns a whole second rather than zero, since a label reading nought minutes is less useful than one that admits the piece is brief.

How to use Reading Time Calculator

  1. Paste text and pick a reading pace.
  2. Read the minutes-and-seconds estimate.
  3. Copy the summary or clear to start over.

What you get

  • A reading-time estimate at slow, average and fast pace, side by side.
  • The word count the estimate is derived from, so the arithmetic is visible.
  • Whole seconds, rounded up, rather than a decimal that implies precision the pace figures do not have.

When to use Reading Time Calculator

  • Label blog posts with an honest read-time estimate.
  • Pace speeches by checking minutes against a time slot.
  • Check whether a draft will fit a five-minute slot before it is recorded, by reading the slow-pace figure.

Frequently asked questions about Reading Time Calculator

Does Reading Time Calculator upload my text?

No. Estimation runs locally in your browser; nothing is sent, stored, or logged.

What paces are available?

Slow at 150, average at 200, and fast at 250 words per minute. Pick the one matching your audience.

Is Arabic counted the same as English?

Yes. Every letter sequence counts as one word regardless of script, so mixed text estimates stay consistent.

How accurate is the estimate?

It is arithmetic, not measurement: words divided by pace, rounded up. Dense or technical text takes longer in practice.
