Italic Text Generator swaps ordinary ASCII letters for the Mathematical Italic characters in Unicode, producing slanted text that can be pasted into fields that offer no italic control. It is a substitution, not formatting: the letters are different code points, so an app either has the glyphs or falls back to plain shapes, and a screen reader or search engine does not see the original word. Most of the mapping is a contiguous range, but the lowercase h is an exception - Unicode reserves its slot and supplies the letter from a letterlike symbol instead - which is exactly the kind of detail a naive offset calculation gets wrong. Digits and punctuation are left alone because Unicode defines no italic digit set, and non-Latin scripts pass through unchanged. The result reports how many characters were mapped, and Normalize Unicode Text reverses it. It is the tool for a slanted display name, an emphasised phrase in a plain-text comment, or a mockup where the only available input is a text field. Everything runs locally in your browser.

How to use Italic Text Generator

  1. Paste or type the text to style.
  2. Read the converted output and the mapped-character count.
  3. Copy the italic text or clear to start over.

Frequently asked questions about Italic Text Generator

Is this real italic formatting?

No. It replaces letters with Unicode italic characters. There is no font-style attribute, so a bold or italic toggle will not affect it.

Why does the letter h look different?

Unicode reserves the slot where italic h would sit and provides the letter as a letterlike symbol instead. The generator maps that exception correctly.

Can I italicise digits?

No. Unicode has no italic digit set. Digits are left as ordinary characters while the letters around them change.

Is my text uploaded?

No. The mapping runs in your browser; nothing is sent to a server or stored.
