Add Line Breaks inserts newlines into a block of text without deleting anything, using one of two rules. Separator mode adds a break after every occurrence of a literal string, which suits punctuation-led text: break after each full stop to get one sentence per line, after each semicolon to split a packed list, or after a custom marker such as a pipe. Words mode ignores existing spacing and starts a new line every few words, which is useful for turning a paragraph into numbered-looking rows, breaking a script into equal chunks, or making a wall of text readable at a glance. The two modes behave differently on purpose. Separator mode preserves every character and only inserts breaks, so consecutive separators can produce empty lines. Words mode reflows whitespace into single spaces before breaking, so original line breaks and double spaces do not survive. Neither mode guesses at sentence boundaries, so an abbreviation or a decimal point breaks exactly like any other occurrence. The result reports how many breaks were added, and everything runs locally in your browser.

How to use Add Line Breaks

  1. Paste the text and choose separator or every-N-words mode.
  2. Set the separator or the word count and read the preview.
  3. Copy the broken text or clear to start over.

What you get

  • The same text with line breaks inserted at the separator or every N words.
  • A count of breaks added and the resulting line count.
  • LF line endings ready to copy, with no words removed in separator mode.

When to use Add Line Breaks

  • Put every sentence on its own line by breaking after each full stop.
  • Split a packed list into rows by breaking after a pipe or semicolon.
  • Chunk a paragraph into equal groups of words for review or translation.

Frequently asked questions about Add Line Breaks

Does this delete any of my text?

No. Separator mode only inserts newlines and keeps every character. Words mode rewrites runs of whitespace as single spaces before adding breaks.

Why did several blank lines appear?

Separator mode breaks after every occurrence, so two separators in a row produce an empty line between them. That is the literal result rather than a bug.

Does it detect sentences automatically?

No. It breaks after the exact separator you enter. Abbreviations, decimals and initials therefore break wherever the separator appears.

Is my text uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser, nothing is sent to a server, and nothing is stored after the page closes.
