Tail Text returns the closing lines of a block, which is where append-only records put their newest entries. A log rotates and appends at the end; a build output finishes with its verdict; a pasted export often ends with the rows added most recently. Reading that end is usually faster than scrolling from the top, and this page extracts it without a terminal: set a line count and the last N lines come back exactly as written. Nothing is sorted, filtered or trimmed, so the chronological order of the source is preserved. Line endings normalise to LF, and when the count exceeds the available lines the whole text returns with a selected/total report instead of padding. Blank lines count like any other line, because a trailing newline is part of the file's shape; remove them first if the last meaningful entries are what you need. Unlike a pattern search, this is a positional operation: it does not care what the lines say, only where they sit. It is the tool for reading the end of a long paste, sampling recent entries, and pulling a closing section into a field with a line limit. A file with no trailing newline still has a last line, and that line is included; an empty final segment after a newline is counted as a blank line rather than a missing one.
