Normalize Unicode Text maps decorative Unicode letters and digits back to ordinary ASCII. It handles the characters produced by bold, italic, bold italic, script, bold script, Fraktur, bold Fraktur, double-struck, sans-serif, sans-serif bold, sans-serif italic and monospace styles, plus fullwidth ASCII. That makes it the undo step for styled text copied from a social profile or a generator: the word looks like a word, but a search, a comparison or an import sees a row of unrelated code points, and this page turns them back into letters a system recognises. Two boundaries are stated rather than blurred. It does not perform Unicode canonical normalization - a composed e-acute stays composed, and that is Remove Letter Accents' job. And it does not reverse upside-down text, because characters such as the rotated p and d are ambiguous once separated from their orientation. Anything outside the supported blocks is left exactly as it was. The result reports how many characters were restored, so a string that only looked styled is revealed as ordinary text. Everything runs locally in your browser.

How to use Normalize Unicode Text

  1. Paste the styled Unicode text.
  2. Read the normalised output and the restored-character count.
  3. Copy the plain text or clear to start over.

What you get

  • The text with supported styled characters mapped back to ASCII letters and digits.
  • A count of characters that were restored.
  • All unsupported characters left exactly as they were.

When to use Normalize Unicode Text

  • Turn a styled social display name back into searchable text.
  • Clean bold or script characters out of a pasted field before an import.
  • Check whether a string is genuinely styled or just uses a fancy font.

Frequently asked questions about Normalize Unicode Text

Does this apply NFC or NFD normalization?

No. It reverses decorative style characters such as bold and script. Canonical composition and decomposition are a different operation; use Remove Letter Accents for diacritics.

Can it fix upside-down text?

No. Rotated characters are not one-to-one - several map ambiguously - so the page refuses to guess rather than producing wrong words.

Which styles are supported?

Bold, italic, bold italic, script, bold script, Fraktur, bold Fraktur, double-struck, sans-serif (regular, bold, italic), monospace and fullwidth ASCII.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Mapping runs in your browser; nothing is sent to a server or stored.
