PDF Page Numbers stamps Page X of N onto every page, bottom-centre, in Helvetica at ten points. The formatting is fixed on purpose: a numbering tool that offers thirty typefaces invites a document that looks like it was assembled from three different ones, and the job here is a footer that reads as a footer. You choose the starting number, between one and nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine, which is what makes the tool useful for a document that continues an existing sequence rather than starting one. Existing footer content is not moved, so a stamp can overlap something already printed at the bottom of the page - the page warns about that instead of silently covering it. It is the tool for printed bundles that might be dropped and reassembled, for exhibits that need to be cited by page, and for anything handed over on paper where a reader needs to know how much is left. Nothing is uploaded and the original file is unchanged. Placement is fixed at bottom-centre in Helvetica at ten points, and a start number from one to nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine continues an existing sequence. Because the stamp sits bottom-centre rather than in a margin band, a page whose footer already carries a confidentiality line can end up with the two overlapping.

How to use Add Page Numbers

  1. Drop a PDF and set the start number and style.
  2. Stamp the numbers across all pages.
  3. Download the numbered file or clear to start over.

What you get

  • Page X of N stamped bottom-centre on every page in Helvetica at ten points.
  • A start number between 1 and 9999, so a document can continue an existing sequence.
  • A warning that existing footer content may overlap the stamp, since placement is fixed.

When to use Add Page Numbers

  • Number contract pages so references stay unambiguous.
  • Prepare handouts where readers cite page numbers.
  • Number the pages of a printed bundle so a reader can reassemble it after it is dropped.
