Inputs
All three figures come from your own records. The margin is the share of revenue left after the cost of the goods sold — it is the number break-even depends on.
What the campaign cost, in your currency.
What the platform attributes to that spend.
Share of revenue left after cost of goods. 0-100.
Result
No figures yet.
Enter the spend, the attributed revenue and your gross margin. The formula and every step are shown with the result.
ROAS Calculator answers three questions about a campaign in one place: what it returned, what it had to return to be worth running, and what was left afterwards. You enter the ad spend, the revenue the platform attributes to it, and the gross margin that survives your cost of goods; the page then shows return on ad spend as a ratio, the break-even ROAS implied by that margin, and the profit or loss in currency. The break-even figure is the part most calculations leave out, and it is the part that decides anything: at a 40% margin every unit of spend must produce two and a half units of revenue before the campaign has paid for itself, so a 2.0x ROAS that sounds healthy is a loss. Every input, the formula and the intermediate steps are printed with the result, so the arithmetic can be checked on paper rather than accepted because a page produced it. Zero spend and a zero margin are reported as undefined with the reason, not as infinity or an invented number. Treat the output as a plan: your margin is an assumption, platform-attributed revenue is a claim about attribution, and a decision about spending money is yours. The page states that in the same words every time, under the result. Two campaigns can share a ratio and produce different outcomes, which is why the margin, the currency left over and the distance from break-even are all printed beside it. Comparing channels means holding that margin constant; alter it and the ranking between them can reverse, so the figures are shown together rather than as one headline number. Nothing is projected forward either: every figure belongs to the period you entered, and no growth curve is assumed on your behalf.
How to use ROAS Calculator
- Enter the ad spend, the revenue attributed to it, and your gross margin as a percentage of revenue.
- Read the ROAS, the break-even ROAS for that margin, and the profit — with the steps shown for each.
- Change one figure at a time to see how much room the campaign actually has before it stops paying.
When to use ROAS Calculator
- Set a target before a campaign starts: find the break-even ROAS your margin requires, then decide whether the platform's expected return clears it.
- Audit last month's spend by entering what it cost and what it brought in, to see whether the campaign made money or merely made sales.
- Compare two channels with different margins, where the higher ROAS is not automatically the more profitable one.
Frequently asked questions about ROAS Calculator
What is a good ROAS?
There is no universal number, and any page that gives one is guessing. What matters is your own break-even: divide 1 by your gross margin as a decimal. A 50% margin breaks even at 2x, a 25% margin at 4x. Anything above that line is profit on the margin you entered.
Why is break-even ROAS different from my target ROAS?
Break-even is arithmetic: the ratio at which revenue times margin equals spend, so nothing is left. A target is a decision that sits above it, covering overheads and profit. This page computes the first and shows it plainly, so you can choose the second with the floor in view.
Does it account for shipping, returns or platform fees?
Only through the margin you enter. If your margin already nets those out, the result does. If you enter a gross margin that ignores them, the break-even ROAS will be too low and a campaign will look more profitable than it is — the limitation is stated on the page for that reason.
Can I use this to decide a real advertising budget?
Use it to test the arithmetic of a plan, not as the final word. Attributed revenue, seasonality and repeat purchases decide whether a campaign was worth running, and none of them are in this calculation. Nothing here is financial advice.
