PDF Metadata Editor rewrites the document-info entries a PDF declares: title, author, subject, keywords and creator. Those five fields are what a reader shows in its library and what a colleague sees when they open the file properties, so they are worth getting right in a batch of reports that should group together. The page edits exactly those entries and nothing else: XMP metadata streams are neither read nor written and stay byte-for-byte as they were, and the producer and creation dates are left alone because they describe how the file was made rather than what it is. Values are written into a new copy, so the original on your disk is untouched. It is the tool for setting a consistent author across a set of documents, for fixing a title that says untitled, and for adding keywords that make a folder searchable. Everything happens locally in your browser, nothing is uploaded, and the page states its scope rather than implying a full metadata editor.

How to use PDF Metadata Editor

  1. Drop one PDF and read its current values, prefilled for editing.
  2. Rewrite the fields you want to change.
  3. Save a new file with the updated information.

What you get

  • A new PDF with the title, author, subject, keywords and creator you typed.
  • XMP metadata streams left exactly as they were, neither read nor written.
  • Producer and creation dates untouched, because the page edits document-info entries only.

When to use PDF Metadata Editor

  • Give exported reports proper titles and authors before publishing them.
  • Add keywords to a document set for local retrieval.
  • Correct a misspelled author name across a finished PDF.
  • Set a consistent author and title across a set of reports so they group correctly in a reader's library.

Frequently asked questions about PDF Metadata Editor

Does editing touch my original file?

Never. The new values are written into a fresh download; your source stays exactly as uploaded.

What happens to XMP metadata?

Nothing: XMP streams are neither read nor written. Only the five document-info fields change, and the page says so.

Can I clear a field?

Not in this version: blank boxes are left unchanged, so a field keeps its current value. Only non-empty boxes are written.

Is anything uploaded?

Nothing. Loading, editing, and encoding run in your browser — in a background worker when one is available — and bytes are released on clear.
